Wal-Mart Haul

So the other day I totally went semi-crazy at Wal-Mart and bought a few necessary items. LOL. Yes, most of what I buy I consider "necessary." Anyway I was in desperate need of a few new items so I could toss out some old makeup. I also grabbed a box of hair color because my hair has been "Rihanna-red" for a month and a half, and I kinda wanted something darker. So here it is with mini-reviews.

The Haul:

1. Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme in Black Cherry (Deep Burgundy). Honestly, I don't dye my hair enough to know the difference between any of them. They all stink and they all color my hair relatively well. I love this color though, and since my hair was already a bright red, the color came out like the color on the box. I'll post some instagram pics on another day to show you my new color.

2. Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Correcting Powder in Creamy Natural. OMG...I really have not had much experience with correcting powders or setting powders, but this totally worked for me. I thought the color might be too light for my skin tone, but it was perfect and my skin looked amazing. My makeup also stayed put longer than it usually does. It's a little bit pricey at $12-$13, but I love this brand and it'll last me a good while. It comes with an adorable little brush, which I wish I took a picture of, but I can do that another day for a makeup tutorial.

3. Maybelline the Mega Plush Volum' Express Mascara in Blackest Black. I never have anything bad to say about Maybelline mascaras, they are my absolute favorite. I usually use the yellow one (the Colossal Volum' Express) which I rave about, but I decided to try this one because I've heard so many good things about it from youtube gurus. I see no difference honestly between the two, so it's definitely a good mascara.

4. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser in Medium. I. LOVE. THIS. So much. I recently started wearing concealer (maybe sometime in November 2011) due to a very good friend's advice. I tried out a few, but this is by far the best one I have ever used. The application is easy, it blends in easy, and totally makes my eyes look so much better. I also dab a bit around my nose (where I tend to have a little redness) and on any unwelcome face friends that happen to pop up and it works wonders, tbh. And the little stick is so cute, and I love the round sponge, very soft for around the eye area.

5. Ecotools Bamboo Foundation brush. Honestly, this is the very first "foundation" brush that I have ever used/owned. I was getting tired of using my fingers to blend in concealer, so I picked this little cutie up. It was a tad pricey, but I think all good brushes are. Yes, I do use it to blend my concealer in around my eyes, since I do not use foundation. It works amazingly. The bristles are so soft which I love because my eye area tends to be sensitive especially if I'm rubbing them alot.

6. CLIF bar in white chocolate macadamia nut. I decided to try this healthy little snack because: 1. it was 98 cents, and 2. I've heard great reviews about CLIF bars. I hate to say that I was very disappointed. Maybe it was just this particular flavor, but it was not tasty at all. Really, that's all there is to say about that.

7. Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched (blue), Grape Vine (teal), and Pink Punch (pink). I'm obsessed with these! My lips tend to become very dry quite often, and I have never had any luck with chapsticks. These stay on a pretty good while, keep my lips very soft, and smell so good! I love the Pink Punch, which adds a tint of pink while nourishing lips. I like to use this for my natural, everyday makeup routine. Grape Vine is amazing, and adds a plum tint with lots of shine. I like to use this for a more "going out" makeup look. And Quenched is a wonderful, clear balm that I use when I'm just around the house or at work (no makeup) to keep my lips feeling great. I believe there are 5 total Baby Lips, and I might just have to add the other two.

A couple of other things I picked up on a different day.

1. Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein in Chocolate. I love to make smoothies with a little of this powder mixed in. It gives me the protein I need since I do not eat alot of meat. This stuff is amazing for me and helps me keep my weight in check! Also, it tones me up pretty easy, too. Don't let the name scare you, it won't bulk you up to be like a body builder or anything, but it does give me energy to work out and helps me burn fat more easily. I like having a smoothie for breakfast or one when I feel a sweet craving coming on (mix it with crushed ice and 2% milk in a blender and it is just like a milkshake, but healthier!).

2. Luna Nutz Over Chocolate protein bar. I really liked this protein bar over the CLIF bar for sure. This bar is marketed specifically towards women, with calcium, folic acid, antioxidants A, C, and E, and 9 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber. I couldn't ask for anything more out of a "snack" bar. Clearly I'm obsessed with protein, but I love how it has all the other stuff in it. Very healthy and helpful things for the body. Tastes pretty good too. Now I'll have to try all the other flavors. :)

Ok, well, that is it for the Wal-Mart Haul. I hoped I helped a little bit with the mini-reviews of these products, and hopefully you feel better about giving them a try, too. If you have any questions/comments, don't hesitate to contact me!

My Target Haul

I am obsessed with makeup/OOTD youtube videos and blogs lately. I have been away from my blog for awhile, but I decided to start back up since I have a little more time on my hands! I have seen alot of 'Haul' posts and videos, and I decided to do a couple since I have been shopping like CRAY lately.

THE HAUL:

1. The Bandini by Beyond Bare. I love these kinds of bras because they are so comfy and supportive of my...er, ladies. These are so cool because the straps can be worn up like a regular bra, down like a strapless, and one up and one down for one-strap tops. And the colors are AH-MAZING!!!! I'm really into neons right now, so they were perfect. They only had the neon-green (yellow? lime?) and purple in my size (comes in a 2-pack), but I noticed they had other bright colors. I shall be searching the internet for these!!! I believe they were $16/2 pack.

2. Cross-body bag by Mossimo. I honestly did not need another bag, but I could not resist the $7 price tag! It immediately caught my eye because of the reddish-pink color, the studs, and tassels. I am the ultimate boho-trend fanatic. Besides, I mostly have huge bags and totes, and this little one is perfect for the essentials: lip balm, phone, debit card, keys.

3. Dove dry shampoo. So I've been searching high and low for a good dry shampoo that won't cost me an arm and a leg and that actually works!!! I need it especially now because I dyed my hair a reddish-magenta color and I cannot wash my hair everyday or the color will run. Tresemme dry shampoo was HORRIBLE and I've read alot of reviews and blogs that share my feelings. I tried Suave, which was amazing, but the stuff would evaporate in the bottle after ONE use. After my 3rd bottle like this, I gave up. Then I saw Dove! I love Dove! So I tried it, and it was also amazing - but it evaporated AGAIN. And I know this is happening to many many other people, but it pisses me off. $4 down the drain after ONE use. So yeah, baby powder, it is.

4. Limited Edition sandals. These were my first capture of the day... I saw them immediately upon walking into Target. I love this style ( I have many sandals in this style), the colors, and the price! Can't beat $11. Well, I'm sure you can, but they still made me happy.

5. Yes To Tomatoes acne rollerball spot stick. I have been using this thing for about a year now. I loved the reviews and the ingredients, so I had to try it, especially because I was breaking out like a mofo. I was very surprised at how quickly this stick gets to zits - it really made my pimples less red and huge overnight. After a few days, they were gone. This is totally my miracle tool and it's only $8.

6. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail color in Coral Reef.  I'm a nail-polish-aholic lately, and every time I go anywhere, I must buy at least one nail polish. This light, fruity, bright pink caught my eye, and we've been BFFs ever since. The color matches great with my new sandals, too. And honestly, Sally Hansen nail color is one of the best brands - creamy and goes on beautifully in one to two coats. Lasts a good while, too!

7. Cover Girl CGsmoothers BB cream tinted moisturizer/SPF 15 in light to medium. I was extremely skeptical of BB cream when I first heard of them, but when my foundation started to look cakey and gross in this Texas heat, I thought it might be worth a try. So far, no complaints, blends in with my concealer fairly well, great coverage, and doesn't dry out my skin. I've heard of many people saying that BB creams break them out, so we'll see what happens. I need to do a makeup tutorial/review soon.

So yeah, that was my Target haul this time around! Funny to think that I just went in there to get my acne rollerball stick and some dry shampoo. But Target always does that to me...can't leave without spending at least $50 each time. And I actually held back a little, so  I can go pretty crazy in Target if I'm not careful...or watched at all times! Thanks for stopping by!
